Kan-safe began over a year ago as a plan to develop an online web-site providing Kansas librarians, educators and their patrons/students with quick online access to current and emerging issues in regards to Internet safety and the state of Kansas. This session will cover the initial plan of Kan-safe and eh evolution of the project as it now enters its fourth version of the website and what our future plans hold.

Join South Central Kansas Library System Director, Paul Hawkins and Automation Technology Coordinator, Larry Papenfuss from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. as they present on the latest local, state and federal issues regarding Internet safety and filtering. Following a 15-minute question / answer session, Detective Wright of the Wichita Police Department and Detective Prunier of the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office will present a 45-minute session on Internet safety for children and will close with a 15-minute question / answer session.

Open to the general public, Aftab and her co-presenter Spider-Man will offer an afternoon of interaction, learning and fun. As an internationally knoown speaker and published author, Aftab speaks and writes on Internet safety, cyber-crime, cyber-stalking, work place risk management, and child exploitation and pronography. Aftab is the driving force behind several Internet safety web sites - InternetSuperHeroes.org and WiredSafety.org to name a couple.
